Vastu Tips for Study

Vastu Shastra tips for the study room to increase concentration while learning and achieving success.

Vastu Shastra is the Indian ancient text describing the science of architecture. It pertains to balancing the 5 natural elements; air, water, fire, earth, space, through the layout, direction, geometry, designs and patterns of the architectural structure.

It is the study room wherein people learn and acquire knowledge to advance in their professions and career while achieving goals. Ideally, this room of the house is believed to be occupied by the children or students, but it can be optimised by anyone who’s keen on concentrating on studying or learning. Home Vastu Tips cover all the necessary Vastu guidelines for a harmonious home.

For maximising the concentration power and ensuring a growth-oriented mental space for learning and systematically achieving goals, these tips go a long way :

  1. The perfect direction for the study room is North, North East and West. While studying, the best directions to face are North and East for enhanced concentration and focus on the subject at hand. Windows in the North, East and North East direction of the room can welcome positive fresh air and is necessary to maintain ventilation. A passage of natural light in the room is also appreciated and beneficial.
  2. The study table should have been cut in either a square or a rectangular shape. Shelves are to be avoided exactly above the study table as it keeps weighing upon the person studying, creating pressure. Elections like computers, laptops or table should be kept on the South East corner of the study table as that direction represents the fire element. It is the heat radiated by these items which make it apt for the placement. Similarly, table lamps too shall be kept there. A rich quality of hardwood is advisable for the material of the study table. Ensure that the table does not have extremely sharp edges as not only it can hurt the child but also the sharpness can create negativity. Slightly rounded edges are the way to go.  Be mindful to keep the study table a few inches away from the wall to allow energy flow.
Avoid facing a plain wall while studying or learning, as it inspires no motivation of any kind and dulls the power of the mind. In cases of a blank wall, awards or trophies of the student can be placed or posters of quotes for encouragement.
  3. Mirrors can pose as distracting objects for the study room. Moreover, placing it in front of the study table or bookshelf can multiply the pressure of studying by reflection. Mirrors are not to be kept in the study room, preferably. But if one has to, then ensure that it does not reflect the study table and can’t be easily spotted while studying.
  4. Subtle shades of bright colours like Yellow, Green, Orange, Pink are suitable for the study room as these colours appear positive, peaceful and yet adventurous or playful, especially in the case of kids. Warm colours also keep sleepiness at bay and help with concentrating on studies.
  5. It is of much importance to keep the study table and room clean and dust-free. The study table is not to be cluttered and should be regularly arranged neatly. The room overall should not be cramped with unnecessary objects as that can cause disturbance and give rise to a sense of suffocation.
