Brihaspati – Jupiter

In Vedic astrology, Brihaspati is the Sanskrit name for the planet Jupiter. Jupiter is considered a benefic planet and is associated with wisdom, knowledge, guidance, spirituality, and benevolence. Brihaspati also has its own Dasha (planetary period) in the Vimshottari Dasha system, which lasts for a total of 16 years.

It is also called Guru or teacher, a personality with immense wisdom and knowledge to impart. Brihaspati is the teacher of all the devas, gods. As Jupiter is the largest planet among all the Navgrahas, qualities of vastness and greatness are primarily attached with it. Guru is known to eradicate lightness and guide onto the path of progress.
