Sivananda yoga style is a form of hatha yoga founded initially by Swami Sivananda and eventually introduced in the west during the late 1950s by his disciple Swami Vishnudevananda. Currently, Sivananda yoga is taught and practiced by 10,000 certified instructors at 17 centers and nine ashrams all over the world.

This is a slow-paced yoga style that integrates four different paths of yoga, like Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga, which explains why this yoga style is way different than any other typical yoga technique.

This yoga genre is known as the spiritual yoga form that focuses on meditation, spirituality, overall well-being, and physical fitness at the same time. It is not an ideal technique for those who seek strong yoga movements and effective exercise results from yoga.

Sivananda contains special instructions about activities, meditation, breathing, and diet. However, this yoga form requires immense commitment towards the techniques and vegetarian diet plan for better immunity, digestion, and a healthy mind to reach the deeper benefit levels.

Starting with a sun salutation, to execute a complete yoga pattern one is asked to do 12 different asanas that are headstand, shoulder stand, plough, fish, sitting forward bend, cobra, half locust, full locust, bow, half spinal twist, crow, peacock, standing forward bend, triangle and in the end final relaxation in savasana.

Sivananda, the most comprehensive yoga practice, helps individuals to achieve the highest degree of mental peace and health through its fundamental spirituality concept and ashram-inspired atmosphere.
