Nirvaan Shatakam

Nirvaan Shatakam, also known as Atma Shatakam, is a profound hymn composed by the great Adi Shankaracharya. The verses encapsulate the essence of Advait Vedanta, emphasizing the realization of the true self, which transcends physical existence, emotions, and intellect.

The Nirvaan Shatakam, composed by Adi Shankaracharya, holds profound significance in Advait Vedanta philosophy by guiding individuals toward self-realization and liberation. This hymn emphasizes the realization that the true self (Atman) is not confined to the body, mind, or ego, but is the unchanging, eternal consciousness (Brahman). By systematically negating identification with transient aspects of existence and affirming the self as pure consciousness and bliss, the verses help dissolve the ego and foster a deep sense of inner peace. Reciting and meditating on the Nirvaan Shatakam aids in detaching from material and emotional identities, leading to the understanding that one’s true nature is identical to the universal consciousness. This realization is central to achieving moksh (liberation) and transcending the cycle of birth and death, making the Nirvaan Shatakam a vital text for spiritual seekers aiming to experience their oneness with the ultimate reality.
