Mookan Karoti Vaachaalam

Mookam Karoti Vaachaalam  is a well-known Sanskrit shlok (verse) from the Guru Stotram, which is a hymn in praise of the Guru (spiritual teacher). This verse highlights the transformative power of the Guru’s grace and wisdom.

This verse is a powerful expression of the Guru’s ability to elevate and transform his disciples. The phrase “मूकं करोति वाचालं” (Mookam Karoti Vaachaalam) means “makes the dumb eloquent,” indicating that the Guru can impart wisdom and eloquence even to those who are otherwise unable to speak. Similarly, “पंगुं लंघयते गिरिम्” (Pangum Langhayate Girim) means “enables the lame to cross mountains,” signifying that the Guru can empower even the most incapacitated individuals to overcome the greatest obstacles.

The verse encapsulates the belief that with the grace and blessings of the Guru, no challenge is insurmountable, and no limitation is permanent. It emphasizes the transformative potential of divine grace and the pivotal role of the Guru in guiding and uplifting the spiritual aspirant.

Meaning:

A mute person who cannot speak, can speak with grace. The one cannot walk, can now climb and surpass mountains. Blessings from that Madhav (Krushna), who is the ultimate bliss, are such that make these possible.
