Once, there lived a brave and virtuous warrior who, due to unavoidable circumstances, ended up killing a Brahmin (a priest). This unintentional sin weighed heavily on his conscience, and he was filled with immense guilt and remorse. Seeking a way to atone for his sin, he approached several sages and holy men. However, none could offer him a remedy that would ease his burden.
One day, he met a sage who advised him to observe the fast of Kamika Ekadashi with full devotion. The sage explained that by observing this fast and worshipping Lord Vishnu with a pure heart, he could be absolved of his sin and find peace.
Following the sage’s advice, the warrior observed the Kamika Ekadashi fast. He spent the day in prayer, chanting the holy names of Lord Vishnu, and offered the sacred Tulsi leaves to the Lord with great reverence. Pleased with his sincere devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared before the warrior and granted him forgiveness, freeing him from the sin that had tormented him.
From that day on, the warrior led a life of righteousness and devotion, and his story spread far and wide, inspiring others to observe Kamika Ekadashi and seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Rituals of Kamika Ekadashi:
- Fasting: Devotees observe a strict fast on Kamika Ekadashi, abstaining from grains, beans, and certain vegetables. Some may opt for a water-only fast, while others may consume fruits and milk.
