Frequently Asked Questions

Sameedh or Sameedha, is the wood that is used in the yagna / fire. Yagna is said to be the mouth of the God. In other words, what you offer to the yagna is same as offering to the God. Yagna (a.k.a. homam) is given utmost importance in Vedic scriptures. While offering items to the Yagna is the physical depiction, metaphysical and spiritual meaning of Sameedh is to offer oneself towards God’s work. Sameedh, the platform, is dedicated towards this mission. It is a small attempt. The platform offers prayers for practitioners, connectivity to conduct pooja ceremonies for believers and blogs for thinkers.
Bhakti = devotion. Devotion towards God. There are 9 stages of Bhakti: Sravana, Kirtana, Smarana, Padasevana, Archana, Vandana, Dasya, Sakhya and Atma-nivedana. Hindu philosophy very openly discusses the importance of Dwait (duality) and Adwait (oneness). Prayers are chants, stotras, verses, poems, or hymns (generally in poetic form) worshipping the Gods. It is to remind us of the gunas (qualities) that God / God-like person possesses, by either listing them or glorifying the deeds or actions that Gods or their incarnations performed.
Pooja is a ceremony that one can perform himself/herself or via a priest. It is often performed at a milestone, an important or an auspicious day, or sometimes just because. Sameedh offers a marketplace for practicing individuals to offer their services and for hosts to seek those services. Priests can register themselves (as priest during account registration) and select the types of ceremonies they can perform. When a host (looking to have a ceremony performed) searches for a priest for a given ceremony, s/he will see the priests in the nearby location that can perform that particular ceremony. Host can go through the entire reservation process starting from reserving the priest, having the ceremony performed to the final payment – all on the platform. Same can be done via Sameedh’s mobile apps.
