Gu = Darkness. Ru = Remover. Guru gives us the path from darkness to light. Guru embodies the trinity of Gods.
There is utmost respect for the Guru, the teacher. Gu = Darkness. Ru = Remover. Thus Guru is the remover of darkness. Guru gives direction … shows a path from darkness to light. Brahma, the creation of the universe. Vishnu provides the sustenance and preservation. Maheshwar is the force behind the destruction, which gives birth to the new beginnings. Guru represents the trinity of Gods and he is sakshat – in front of us. Guru is the Absolute Truth. I worship that Guru that embodies all Gods.
This is probably one of the first shlok that our parents taught us. We heard it at home. We heard it at temples. It reminds us of who we are. It gives us the comfort.

गुरु ब्रह्मा गुरुर विष्णु
गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुःसाक्षात् परब्रह्म
तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नम: ॥
