Saraswati Vandna

Saraswati Vandana, or Saraswati Vandana Mantra, is a devotional hymn dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the embodiment of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and learning. This prayer is commonly recited at the beginning of academic, artistic, and spiritual pursuits to invoke the blessings of the goddess for clarity, insight, and success.

या कुन्देन्दुतुषारहारधवला या शुभ्रवस्त्रावृता

या वीणावरदण्डमण्डितकरा या श्वेतपद्मासना।

या ब्रह्माच्युतशंकरप्रभृतिभिर्देवैः सदा वन्दिता

सामां पातु सरस्वती भगवती निःशेषजाड्यापहा ॥

Ya Veenaa Varadand Mandit Karaa Ya Shweta Padmaasanaa |

Ya Brahmaachyut Shankar Prabrutibhir Devai Sadaa Vanditaa

Saamaam Paatu Saraswati Bhagavati Nihshesh Jaadyaa Pahaa |

 

Meaning :

The one who is pure white like Jasmine, wearing white clothes, has a veena in her hand, has white seat to sit on, one is respected and admired by trinity of Gods – this is Goddess Saraswati. May Goddess Saraswati help us remove all the gunk that surrounds our knowledge and wisdom.
