Rashi

The twelve Rashi according to Vedic astrology in Hinduism

Rashi is the term for zodiac signs in Hinduism according to Vedic astrology. It refers to the placement of stars and constellations at the time of a person’s birth to help predict their future and describe their personality. It was earlier also used to chart out sacred, auspicious days for rituals or pooja.

According to a person’s date and time of birth, these signs can be identified. Each of these twelve signs exhibit certain properties which indicate a person’s characteristics and personality. These signs are ruled by the Navagrahas, planets which influence them. All the twelve months of the solar calendar are divided almost evenly by these Rashis.

They are then divided in four categories of elements; Air, water, fire, Earth and showcase various personality traits.
